Using Power Mac
I have formatted the My Passport drive as a MS-DOS (FAT) but the G4 which is running on Mac OS 10.2.8 can not see the drive on the desktop. The G5 (Mac OS 10.6.8) has no problem reading the drive. I have about 7 GB of data that I need to transfer from the G4 to the G5. How do I format the My Passport drive so that both computers can read the drive? Is it possible?

Never mind I found my answer. The target is the G5.

This may sound stupid but which computer would be the host computer and which would be the target disk?

A faster alternative is to connect the macs with a firewire cable and use Target Disk Mode. No external drive needed.
