My computer has been running slower than usual after running large programs like Photoshop. How can I fix this?

Using a MacBook Pro
My MacBook Pro worked great, but then I used photoshop for some school projects and was saving large files, as well as running Lightroom. My computer started running hot because the programs and files were too much for it to handle, I guess. Ever since I had to use photoshop for two months straight, my MacBook has been running hot to export files from Lightroom and just to perform not-as-heavy tasks. Normal programs are taking longer to run, so I am wondering if there is a program to clean out some unneccesary things in my computer to get it run faster again, or if there is something I need to do to fix this problem.

You don't say which model MBP you have (late 2011 15", for example) but Photoshop is very RAM and disk intensive and if you don't have enough RAM or hard drive space it can slow you down.
Take a look at ds store's user tip, Why is my computer slow?
And call back with your configuration.
